Mapeband – Alkali-Resistant Waterproofing Tape for Joints & Corners

Mapeband by MAPEI is a vapour- and water-resistant rubber tape with alkali-resistant fabric edges, for cementitious waterproofing systems and liquid membranes. It stays flexible and deformable even at low temperatures and resists alkalis, acids and salt solutions (test before use in special cases).

Where to use

• Sealing corners between walls and between walls and floors before applying Mapelastic Zero, Smart, Turbo Zero or AquaDefense Zero
• Flexible waterproofing of expansion joints on terraces and balconies
• Sealing pipes and drains in bathrooms, showers and kitchens with Mapeband gaskets
• Sealing expansion joints in precast panels

Technical data

• Total width: 120 mm; thickness 0.58 mm
• Service temperature: -20°C to +60°C
• Tensile strength: over 2 N/mm² (EN 12311-2)
• Elongation at failure: at least 300%
• Tear resistance: at least 100 N (EN 12310-2)
• Vapour diffusion resistance: approx. 30,000 µ
• MAPEI original packs: 50 m or 10 m rolls; 90° and 270° corners, pipe gaskets (120×120 and 400×400 mm), T and cross pieces on request

Installation

• Apply a thin layer (min. 1 mm) of Mapelastic to both sides of the corner or joint
• Press the fabric sides of the tape into the fresh layer with a smooth trowel so the product wets both edges
• In movement joints, position the tape in an omega (Ω) shape
• Seal joints between tape pieces with Adesilex LP or Adesilex PVC HP
